About Shoreham-by-Sea
An English seaside town and port, Shoreham-by-Sea (commonly abbreviated as Shoreham) is located in West Sussex.
The South Downs, the Adur Valley, the River Adur, and Shoreham Beach on the English Channel form the town’s northern, western, and southern boundaries, respectively. The town is situated almost equidistant from the towns of Worthing and Brighton and Hove to the east and west of the urban development ribbon that runs along the English south coast. Shoreham’s expansion as a Victorian sea port with many shipyards and a bustling coasting trade was made possible by the nearby cities of Brighton, Hove, and Worthing’s rapid growth, particularly the coming of the railway in 1840. Today, Shoreham Harbour is still in use for business. In 1910, the region became an urban district, with Shoreham Town Hall serving as its administrative centre.
