About Horsham

Horsham is a market town in West Sussex, England, on the upper reaches of the River Arun on the outskirts of the Weald. The town is 31 miles (50 kilometres) south of London, 18.5 miles (30 kilometres) north of Brighton, and 26 miles (42 kilometres) north of Chichester, the county town. Crawley is to the northeast, and Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill are to the southeast. It serves as the Horsham district’s administrative centre. Horsham is a market town that used to trade cattle, sheep, and corn. Brewing, brickmaking, iron smelting, and printing were among the industries that contributed to its prosperity. With the exception of iron smelting, some of these continue to operate on a small scale and no longer employ large numbers of people. Financial services, pharmaceuticals, and technology were the most important industries in 2014. Horsham is a commuter town with connections to London, Gatwick Airport, and the South East Coast.

Horsham F.C., the town’s senior football club, currently competes in the Isthmian League Premier Division (2021-22). They have had sporadic success throughout their history, reaching the final of the Sussex Senior Cup in 2007, the final of the Isthmian League Cup in 2022, and the first round proper of the FA Cup four times. They advanced to the second round in 2007-08, losing in a replay to Swansea City, and to the first round in 2021, losing away to Carlisle United.
